Quick Hit: What a Difference a Year Makes

It was about this time last year when we told our children that we would be moving to China. Morgan cried...no...she WAILED. The look on her face is etched in my memory like a photograph. Although I anticipated her reaction, it was still heartbreaking to see her so emotional. I held her tightly without saying a word and simply gave her time grieve. A few days later, I decided it was time to talk. I shared that I was nervous about the move also, but because I had been through seemingly devastating experiences which turned out to be wonderful, I knew that this would be fine. "Unfortunately", I said, "as a child you haven't had the opportunity to go through those types of experiences. I'm sure that this will be the first one for you. You'll look back and think 'I couldn't have imagined this would be so good.'" Today, I am happy to report that it seems I was right. Last night as she was packing for the middle school's  fall camp, she said, "I think middle school here is better than in America." She was so excited about camp, she could have burst. What a difference a year makes! Thank you Lord!
